Overview

HZDFR4100 is a 90°C thermoplastic halogen-free flame-retardant cable compound, colorable, built on a polyolefin base with inorganic flame retardants, antioxidants and lubricants, internally mixed, plasticized and pelletized. It is used for the outer sheathing of shipboard, power, control, communication, building and instrumentation cable.

The compound releases no halogen acid or corrosive gases and contains no heavy metals. Cable of a properly designed construction made from HZDFR4100 passes the IEC 60332-3 Category B (and above) bunched-cable flame test, at an excellent cost-performance ratio.

Packaging & Storage

Supplied in aluminum-plastic bags with kraft paper lining, 25 kg net per bag. Store in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse.

Process notes

Processing Recommendations

  • Thermoplastic grade — extrudes and cools like PVC with no irradiation or cross-linking step
  • Recommended equipment: φ45–150 single-screw extruder, L/D ≥ 20, screen pack 20/80/20 mesh
  • A dedicated halogen-free screw with compression ratio below 2.5 improves output and surface quality
  • Temperature profile: feed 110°C / transport 125°C / melting 140°C / die 140–150°C — trim die temperature to cable surface finish
